Bad Monday Artist Sessions - Episode 1 - Thomas Hearn

Introducing the first episode of our new Artist Sessions series. This episode we collaborated with emerging tattoo artist Thomas Hearn. We headed on over to Township Tattoo the studio Thomas works at in Aylesbury to spend the day with Thomas and find out a little more about him and his love for trad tattoos and bright ink.

Thomas has been tattooing for 3 and a half years full time, before that he did a 6-month tattoo apprenticeship and has a long-standing background studying graphic design and illustration. Having spent many an hour sitting in the chair getting tattooed himself, it was a no brainer that his graphic and illustration knowledge would eventually lead to him being the one behind the needle!

“I was spending a lot of time in tattoo studios getting tattooed”

Thomas would describe his tattoo style as traditional with an illustrative twist, bold lines and bright colours are his thing and he’s known for chucking in a few extra colours in his work and having to reign himself in from going too OTT!

Anyone for a cocktail?

One design Thomas is known for is his cocktail skulls, he originally tattooed one on a client and after posting it on his Instagram it blew up! He’s had loads of requests for these since and we managed to catch him tattooing one in action on the day we filmed which was awesome (you can catch him tattooing this in action in our Youtube video below!).

Pick your poison...

As part of our Artist Sessions series, we commissioned Thomas to design a Limited-Edition tee for us to kick off our first episode and what better to put on a tee than the cocktail skull he tattooed on the day. This tee is available on the Bad Monday app for 1 week only (26th July – 1st Aug) so grab one whilst you can! The Bad Monday app can be downloaded from the app store for Apple and Android.

Download the app!

Check out the full video interview below of our day with Thomas and we’ll be back with episode 2 soon!
